1.Starting the quest

First, you must be lvl 50 or above. Go to Ei nath and talk to your respective job instructor( they are the job advancement people for 3rd job). Ask them to allow you to participate in the Zakum dungeon quest.
Note: A party of 4 people is recommended for the dungeon quests. Try posting in the party recruitment section of this forum.
WARNING: You CANNOT do the Zakum mine quest if you did not do the above tasks.

2.Recommended level and pots to do the quest:

400 white pots for all jobs except cleric. Mana pots are needed for hunting at stage 3 of the quest, but for mages they need 400 red bean sundaes.

1 Nearest town scroll to return to Ei nath town when you need to in case or emergency
(you can't go back to Ei nath unless you die)

Level to be:
Mages: 55+
Thiefs: Any level, but you must be able to survive constant 200 damage from lava. Darksight is a must.
Warriors: Any level, but you must be able to survive constant 200 damage from lava. Hyperbody is useful.
Bowman: Any level, but you must be able to survive constant 200 damage from lava.

How to get to the quest place (Ei nath dungeon) Time needed: 1 hour or less

First, make sure you have done the above. You can skip the below if you have the item “return scroll to dead mine” which can cost 250k at Free Market.

Walk right of EI Nath town. After awhile, you will see yetis, the big ones. Look out for a map with crossroads as you move along. Take the top portal at the crossroads. Soon after walking some more, you will come to a map that has a dead end. Talk to the npc at the top, and he’ll allow you into the dungeon. Prepare to face tons of wolves and werewolves. Thieves, on your dark sight, mages on your magic guard, the other jobs just run for it and pray you don’t get hit. You may be hit 1000 damage. You will come to the zombies. Walk right and right and right until it appears to be a dead end. Go into the hole at the right and you’ll end up at dead mine. Walk down to get to the map “the passage”. Prepare to face Bains. Hope you are prepared to face 1.5k damage. Then, you will reach the map “The door to Zakum” Congratulations! You have made it. =)

Make a party consisting of 4 people/just form a party, and you are ready to do stage 1.

I have made 4 guides. Print all if you're doing stage 1.

Guide 1: Important information
Talk to Adobis and enter the mine map

When you enter, you will be at this map in front of number 9


Rooms 10 and 7 lead to room 16. Here is a map for room 16:


The yellow x is where you come out. All these maps are called 16-(the yellow number). For example, room 1 in area 16 would be called 16-1.

You need to collect 7 keys as part of stage 1. You are also given the optional task of finding 30 out of 32 documents to exchange to get 5 “return scroll to dead mine”.

Whacking the rocks and chests located in each map can:
1. Summon 3 mimics(only for chest)
2. Teleport you back to the first map (only for chest)
3. Drop dead mine scrolls, mesos, elixers 100% and 50%, fried chicken, red bean soup

5. Drop documents

NOTE: IF YOU REACH THE BIG CHEST AND HAVE LESS THAN 2 MINUTES LEFT, YOU DIE.

Guide 2: Hunting keys only
Reward: 20k exp and a piece of fire ore

Party members needed: 2->4

Note that some chests can teleport you out so that’s why you search in a group. Head into these rooms as a whole group and hit the object in the bracket to get the keys:
4-2 (rock)
9-2 (chest)
11-1 (chest)
14-1 (chest)
16-2 (chest)
16-3 (chest)
16-5 (rock)

After you have the keys, head to map 16-5. There is a giant chest:


Drop the 7 keys on it, and out will drop a fire ore :

Talk to Aura after you have the ore, and instruct all party members to walk into the portal. You will gain piece of fire ore x1

Guide 3: Hunting both keys and documents
Reward: 5 dead mine scrolls, 30k exp and 1 piece of fire ore for hunting both keys and documents.
Party members: 6

Make 4 party members follow guide 2. The other two will hunt the documents in these locations:

4. Observe the Zakum Dungeon (Level 2)

This is a jump quest. Its very hard and has 2 stages. If you quit or dc while in the jump quest, you have to start from the beginning (You’ll be teleported to the map “the door to zakum”) You have been warned.

P.S The very hard part is at 1min04 sec onwards. That part you need either luck or very good hand-eye corordination.

You’ll gain the item “Breath of lava” by talking to a npc at the end, and some exp.

Note: If you use any fly-hacks in this map, you'll get DCed. Information is from my friends who actually tried.

5.Request For a Refinery (Level 3)

Adobis will now ask you for 30 gold tooths. Get these from hunting the miner zombies (the ones with hats) at dead mine. Change channel at “the door to zakum” and you’ll end up at “the passage”. Change channel again and you’ll end up at the dead tree map. Walk right and go into the whole to hunt. The tooths are yellow in colour by the way, not white.
Head back to adobis, refine your 3 items from the 3 stages, and you’ll gain 5 eye of fire.

Now you can summon Zakum at channel 3, 5 times.

6.Zakum fight guide: Which jobs are needed?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------


Ratings of the jobs that are most wanted in Zakum pq

CONFRIMED PLACES
1. Bandits (They do the most damage via mesos explosion, and are so inportant that sometimes party members fund them)
2. Clerics (With bless, heal, dispel, and many other essential skills to do with defense, the cleric is very important)
3. Dragon knights (They have hyperbody, increasing the hp and mp of party members. Also, they are known kill the mobs easily)

The rest of the 3 is up to you, but the top 3 are very essential. You can duplicate the jobs in your party too.

Mobbing:

Bowman (They control the mobs by arrow rain)

Crossbowman (Ice shot, which freezes monsters in an area attack)

Ice lightning mage (They can control mobs like the bowman, but they can only area attack as conpared to bowmans controling mobs. More sought after compared to fire/poison mages as they can freeze in their area attacks)

Fire/poison mage (Poison mist and explosion are their main advantages)

Hermits (Their skill which makes more mesos drop from the enemy is very useful. It provides extra damage for the bandits mesos explosion. Plus, they have avenger, which can hit through monsters.)

Attacking Zakum

Crusaders (They do high damage,what more can be said?)

White knights (Their ice charge up skill can freeze mobs in the way while attacking Zakum)

Hermits (They can attack well, but they don't do well if a mob ambushes them)


(Thieves are a combination of archer+warrior in a sense, thats why they can mob kill and boss kill.)

What should your character be doing?


Priests: You're main objective is to minimize the pot usage of your party members by quickly using heal and dispel throughout the run. If you are the only priest in your party, then your party should be assembled so that you only have to concentrate on one area. If your party leader permits it, try to keep your dragon summoned at all times, too. Sometimes leaders think this adds to lag...

Optional: max summon dragon

Dragon Knights:Keep hyperbody casted on all of your party members at all times~ when you're rebuffing HB for yourself, do it a couple times and make sure it reached everyone in your party, especially if you have buyers (low levels that actually need it) in your party. Other than that, try to do as much damage as possible. During the body, DKs are the best class to help clear all the mobs of summons, so when you see a lot of summons, help kill them.

Chief Bandits:Help speed up killing zakum by dropping mesos for 2minutes at a time and then using meso explosion. You should cast meso guard and then dark sight and then drop mesos for about 2 minutes before you explode them. This is why you need high level MG/DS because if you get stunned and your skills wear off, you are dead. CBs rely on their priests to heal them 100% of the time; however, if you see that all the priests in your party are stunned, then walk off the body, get out of DS and pot yourself until they are ready again.

Hermits:Focus on the top 2 right arms of zakum as soon as everyone starts attacking. The top right arm is probably the hardest one to kill because really only ranged attackers can reach it. Keep your party members hasted, so they can try hitting it . At the body, use avenger when you the ground summons spawn. The rest of the time, just keep throwing lucky7 at the body.

Rangers:Focus on the top 2 right arms of zakum attacking with strafe. The top right arm is probably the hardest one to kill because really only ranged attackers can reach it. At the body, use arrow rain when there are lots of summons around. The rest of the time, just keep using strafe on the body.

Snipers:Focus on the top 2 right arms of zakum attacking with strafe. The top right arm is probably the hardest one to kill because really only ranged attackers can reach it. Ice Mages:Focus on the top 2 right arms of zakum attacking with composition. At the body, stand on the first platform and spam ice strike to freeze the summons before they reach the players. When the ice summons start spawning, use thunderbolt to help lure the summons down at a steady rate so that the other classes can help kill them.

Fire Mages:Focus on the top 2 right arms of zakum attacking with composition. When the ice summons start spawning, use explosion to help kill those. Recommended you don't cast poison mist as it confuses people with Zakums poison mist attack...

Crusaders:Keep rage casted on all hermits, rangers, and snipers in your party. Attack as many arms as you can and then just concentrate on the body.

The below"job" is now considered illegal. Do so at your own risk of being banned.

Buyers:STAY ALIVE! Hug the right wall at the beginning of zakum, and then when we switch to the left side, hump the left wall till we are done. The priests should be able to keep you at full HP during the arms, but do not completely rely on them. It is your own responsibility to keep yourself alive. During the body, every single time you get drained to 1hp/1mp, use a pot. You have 2 chances to survive at zakum to loot a helmet
(You can only kill Zakum twice a day and enter his map twice a day. Meaning that if you die you have one chance left)
A chance is used each time you die or disconnect.
Level 50+
Some million mesos (To pay for Zakum Helm service)
Recomended 1000 HP pots (elixirs for mages, cheese for the rest)
1900~ base HP (including HP gear,) <This means your hp before hyper body-ing>

7.Zakum fight guide: What pots/equips are required?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------



Pots
Its highly recommended that you take the following:
- If you're a mage: 1000 power elixirs minimum (1.2-1.5k if you want a bit of a safety net)
- If you're a class other than a mage: 1000 melted cheese minimum
- If you're not a mage you take along 200-400 ice cream pops for the times that zakum hits less than 2k.
-Each run differs from the other, ranging from 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, and the rare 2 hours+. Adjust the amount of pots you carry accordingly.
-For sins bring about 30 use slots of stars to be very safe. Remember to bring pots too!
-For archers, bring 30 use slots if you don't have soul arrow. Bring less arrows more pots if you have more arrows...



Equips
If you don't have a base HP of 1900+, then you'll need some HP equips =]
- + 50 HP Red skis (if you're under level 60)
- + 150 HP Emergency tube
- +85 HP pig headband (of course scrolling it with helm HP scrolls help a lot =])
- Try to have some sort of +HP overall or a +HP top/bottom. If +135 HP isn't enough for you then you should have a +20-30 top/bottom or overall (i.e. sauna robe, i've seen a +50 HP sauna from FMKing..5 10%'s X_X)
- Having a HP cape will help too if you can find people with 100% cape HP scrolls or 60% cape HP scrolls =]

Formula for calculating HP/MP with HB max: (Your HP or MP) X 160%
Formula for calculating HP/MP increase with HB max: (Your HP or Mp) x 60%

8. Zakum fight guide:Squad system explained

Zakum Squad system

Hail all Zakum raiders! Finding it hard to find party members to defeat Zakum? Fear not, as Zakum Squad System can now be formed!


How to form a Zakum Squad:

Before entering the Altar of Zakum, party leader is able to form a Squad of max 30 men by clicking NPC Adobis.
Only 1 party leader is able to form a squad at one time
The squad must be formed within 10 minutes (timer will be shown)
In this period of time, other party leaders may join in the Squad as well.
After 10 minutes, squad members who have not entered the Altar Zakum will not be granted entry.



What does this mean?

No, you don't form a giant party. This means you can have 5 partys with 6 people in each party enter the Zakum altar.

A number of parties will assign one overall leader, and registers to wait in line to fight Zakum. Recently implemented in MapleSEA and Global.


However, not many people like alot of people in the altar, as it means that people will loot (take items very fast so that they can't get them), even if it makes Zakum harder.

9. Zakum fight guide: Strategy

Pointers:
-Remember to buff your party members with your party skils when the effects start to go away
-Stay awake, or play in the morning, when your mind is fresh. Go to the bathroom before the fight
-Adjust your monitor refresh rate to make it easy on your eyes.
To do so on Windows:

1. Right click destop
2. Select properties
3. Select settings
4 Select advanced
5. Slect monitor
6. Change refresh rate to maximum

Minimum recommened level to face Zakum: 100-120++(best if same lv as Zakum)
It's also recommended that u can deal 5,000++ damage to Zakum per hit in order to damage Zakum significantly.

now, let's go on to the 8 arms that Zakum have:

Zakum Arm 1 & 2 (left side & right side of Zakum: first arm from top)
HP: 20,000,000
MP: 18,000
EXP: 1,680,000

Attacks
1) mp drain
Effects: hp-1, mp-300

This mp drain attack only minuses your hp by1, and mp by 300.
if you are really that worried about the loss of 300mp, just use a mana elixir

2) hp drain
Effects: hp-1000 or even more, it depends on how much your magic defence is, and whether u have any other skills, such as magic resistance.




Zakum Arm 3 (left side of Zakum, 2nd arm)
HP: 20,000,000
MP: 18,000

1) fire storm
Effects: hp-1000+, depends on other factors again


2)poison mist
Effects: hp-800 every 1 sec

Special Attacks:
1) status inflictions
Effects: maplers gets a status ailment
*a different spell is casted for a different status infliction. all kinds of status inflictions have been seen, from stun to poison to skill lock. so, be careful.
best way to counter this arm is to use all heal pots when u're hit by a status attack.

Zakum Arm 6 (right side of Zakum, 3rd arm)
HP: 25,000,000
MP: 18,000
EXP: 1,400,000

Attacks: none

Special Skills:
1) Heal
Effect: heals main zakum body and the other 8 arms for 50,000-55,000 HP every 30 seconds. this is the reason why this is usually the 1st arm taken down by maplers. you wouldnt wanna waste pots juz because zakum can keep on healing itself, would you? o.O


2) super stat increase
this arm can also cast physical attack up, physical defense up, magic attack up and magic defence up on Zakum and the 8 arms! all the more u shld take out this arm first! luckily, the power ups are temporary. it fades after awhile. however, zakum will cast it back soon enuff. wad more can u expect since this is a boss? =X




Zakum Arm 7 & 8 (left & right side of Zakum, most bottom arms)
HP: 23,000,000
MP: 18,000
EXP: 1,288,000

Attacks:
1) Earth Fist
Effect: a fist comes out from the ground, dealing damage to those around the fist.


2) Arm Slam
Effect: zakum's arm slams the ground, dealing damage to those around it.


Total HP of Zakum's 8 arms: 176,000,000

let's go on to...
Zakum's Main Body
After all of Zakum's 8 arms have been defeated, the only one that remains is Zakum itself.
Zakum only starts attacking after all its 8 arms have been defeated

Zakum's attacks can be classified into two kinds:
1) offensive skills
2) defensive skills



Offensive Skills
1) Apocalypse (aka hp-mp 1 attack)
Zakum's ultimate attack!
Effects: Reduces all players' HP and MP to 1!
the spell is very large, so u'll know that the attack is coming

after being hit by this attack, it's best that u use pots to heal yourself
a recommended potion would be the mushroom miso ramen.



2) Molten slab strike
Effects: use flaming slabs to damage multiple maplers
(i)Zakum first casts a red-coloured spell:


(ii)small stone slabs pop out from the ground
they show the points on which the molten stone slabs will fall on


(iii)then the molten stone slabs will come down on the maplers, dealing 2500++ damage




3) Mega Thunderstorm
Effects: whole map affected, targets multiple maplers
(i)Zakum casts a huge yellowish-green spell


(ii)the lightning strikes! and it deals 1000-2000+ damage




4) Monster summoning
Effect: summons monsters (namely Boogie, Puco, Pachu, Punco, Cuzco, and Opachu)
*zakum can only summon 1 kind of monster at any one time

Total HP of Zakum's 3 forms: 264,000,000 (264 million!)
Total HP of Zakum's 3 forms+Zakum's 8 hands: 440,000,000 (440 million)!

Defensive Skills

1) defensive summoning
(i)Zakum lifts and slams his tombstone once, then it will cast a spell (yellowish-white in colour)


(ii) Zakum lifts and slams the tombstone a second time, his whole body gives off a blinding flash of light
after this, either one of two super-defensive skills will be activated.
the seal representing the skill will appear on Zakum's tombstone.
the two defence skills are:

a) physical damage nullify
Effect: all physical damage dealt to Zakum is reduced to 1
The seal looks like a pole arm and spear crossing over one another

***note that some other strong monsters can also use this skill (exploding goby house, doom flounder)

*Suggestions:
->Rangers and Snipers should use their Fire Shot and Ice Shot respectively, as they deal magic damage
->White Knights can use their Elemental Charges to their advantage
->All mages except Priests (those healing) do full-scale attack
->other jobs should focus on attacking the monsters that zakum has summoned.



b)magical damage nullify
Effect: all magical damage dealt to Zakum is reduced to 1!
the seal looks like a spell covered by chains.

mages are advised to stop attacking Zakum and concentrate their attacks on the summoned monsters
the other jobs shld focus their attacks on Zakum.
***note that some other strong monsters can also use this skill (exploding goby house, doom flounder)



2) Heal
Effect: Zakum heals himself and his summoned monsters for 30,000++ HP.
This spell is the largest i've seen so far

Q1 Why Zakum? There must be a reason behind the name...

Yes. You can. But read question 4 first

Answer: Nope. You must killl ALL the 8 arms before you can hit Zakums body.

Q5 Must I donate money to the chief bandit of the party? So he can meso-explosion?

Answer: Doing so is up to you.

Q6 How much money is needed to meso bomb Zakum to death?

Answer: About 50m to 200m.

Q7 Can we throw out the Zakum helm?

Answer: Yes you can. It can't be picked up by anyone else tho. You can boom it too with cursed scrolls...

Q8 When will Zakum Helm 2 and 3 come out?

Answer: Around the time 4th job comes out I think.

Q9 If we do the 3 quests, fight zakum, do I have to redo the 3 quests?

Answer: No. First time is to unlock zakum. Then if you choose to do the 3 quests again, its to refill your supply of

urmm.. for all ya info... when ya are in Zakum.. please avoid hitting the cursed arm (inflict status abnormality) last as pple have to take toilet breaks and so on before they continue with the main body as the cursed arm does not do damage unless you touch it, it will only curse you but fear not for the priest will dispel you when they are about to battle the main body of zakum... and also... when zakum is about to use his 1 hp & mp spell... if theres a mob near you.. please try and touch it as it will negate the spell.. Chief bandits have an advantage as it will only reduce half your hp and mp... Mages tend to panic when zakum uses this spell as they have to spam Miso Rames... Power Elixers and so on so that they do not die.. well for Dks and the other jobs... it will be easier~ =)

also.. zakum helmet will tend to drop near the bottom of the platforms... try ya luck~!!! lol!

Also please avoid squad hoggers who request people to pay mesos to get in.. Best is ya get ya friends to go with ya.... Well.. for those who want zakum service.. the best guy is probably Batmanreturn or Slayerdrake... these two characters have the same user.. =D and please avoid walking through zakum unless ya have high hp ( 10K +++) and also people lke GeLaTiv, DarkPhantomZ (William), YiJiaRen92 (probably used by some guy named Manfred), OdySSey and mo0nDitz(Liang) are people who request mesos before granting you entry.. please report to gm if they threaten to kick you if you do not pay up... they also have a bad habit of passing leaders to their friends which can last for hours... they also tend to reserve slots for friends by kicking and threatening people to leave your slot...... so please report to GMs if you come across these kind of situations...

For the small stone slabs on the ground which pops up before the large stone slabs fall.. the smaller ones are called "Arial warning" to notify you where are the slabs gonna drop.. and when it does... its gonna hurt...

Also for the 2nd and 3rd helmets.. they wont be released until Maplestory decides to update the warrior potions and mage potions to 20 MA/WA like JMS & KMS.... that means we wil also get Bonus potions for quests that will boost our MA & WA by atleast 100-150~ *Claps* cheers Theres a map called 'Mu Lung' which has a pirate map and a party quest where we can attain non-tradeble miniature Pirate helmets which have the stats of the 2nd zakum helmet~ =D the Exp there is awesome too... =)

1st and 2nd body down - 1hr 16mins 34secs

Agent did not have any party till body.
When 3rd body spawn, 3 ppl lagged and died(including Agent). Doofus Sinner lol!
